Using the Policy Serial page, you can generate
serials automatically for all policies and claims by clicking on; you
can also set the method in which the serial numbers for policies are set. In
addition, you can define which numbers to use for the serials.
You can set the numbering method for an entire insurance class or you can set a policy to be for a certain policy type within an insurance class.
To set a serial for an insurance class, perform the following steps:
§ Select the Branch where
this serial method will be used;
§ Select the Insurance Class that
this serial will be used for;
§ Select the Insurance Serial Type.
This will either be ‘Document’, ‘Claim’, or ‘Both. If you select ‘Document’ or
‘Both’, then the Document Type field will be enabled where you can
select the document type. Otherwise, the Document Type field will be
disabled;
§ In the Start From and End
To fields, enter the range of serial numbers to be used. For example, if
you set the serial to start from 20 and end at 100, then the first serial
number to be given will be 20, and so on;
§ Check-in the Yearly checkbox
if you want the serial number counter to be reset at the end of every year;
§ Check-in the Automatic checkbox
if you want the system to automatically assign the serial numbers. If you do
not check this in, you will need to set each serial number manually;
§ Once you have finished entering
the necessary data, click.
Note that if you leave any of the Branch, Insurance Class and Document Type fields empty, then the same added serialisation method will be set to all branches, insurance classes and documents types defined in the system.
Once you create a serial for an insurance class, you may want to set it on a policy type level.
